INC weekend

Almost a month after the INC selection weekend, the campus awaits the final list of Indian students who will be joining us next year.

We met 120 bright, talented young men and women between 6 - 9 April. Each of them spent 24 hours on campus and in that period, participated in the following activities:
  • A 30 minute formal interview with faculty and alumni
  • A 10 minute presentation where the applicant had to talk about an object that holds particular significance in their lives
  • An hour long adaptive test to consider their logic and reasoning skills
  • A task that involved debating global affairs and issues related to the notion of "service"
  • A group activity that evaluated the applicants' team work and creative capacities
  • The day ended with an overnight stay on the social center lawn, with applicants "chilling" with current students, dancing, playing cage football, and getting to know each other
Running a selection process like this needed a team of around a 100 people - including students, faculty, staff and alumni. All these individuals committed intense hours of hard work and enthusiasm toward making the process fun and beneficial. As the applicants left our campus, we hope that they went away with a small insight into life on this hill; and that even those applicants who do not get selected, remember their time here as having been stimulating.

Good luck to them all!
